Financiamiento verde para el desarrollo sostenible/Green Financing for a Sustainable Development

Resumen

El presente documento pretende reflejar el importante rol que el financiamiento verde debe cumplir como pilar fundamental del desarrollo sostenible. Debido a la amenaza que el cambio climático implica para la humanidad, se debe evolucionar hacia una economía baja en carbono y más incluyente, con infraestructuras resistentes al clima que garanticen el bienestar de la población, así como el funcionamiento sostenible del proceso productivo. Lograr estos objetivos depende, en gran medida, de que el financiamiento internacional fluya hacia actividades con alto valor y beneficios climáticos, lo que constituiría una nueva realidad denominada financiamiento verde para el desarrollo sostenible.

The present document aims at the reflecting the important role that green financing should fulfill as the cornerstone of sustainable development. Due to the threat climatic change poses for humanity, it is necessary to evolve towards a low-carbon economy and a more inclusive one, with infrastructures able to resist climate and which guarantee the population’s well-being, as well as the sustainable performance of the productive process. To achieve those results largely depends on having the international financing to flow towards to high value and climatic beneficial activities, which would mean a new reality named green financing for sustainable development.
