Desempeño reciente y lecciones no aprendidas: las perspectivas económicas para América Latina y el Caribe/Recent Performance and Un-Learned Lessons: Economic Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean

Resumen

En el presente artículo se realiza un análisis de la evolución económica y social más reciente de los países de América Latina y el Caribe. Además, se resumen algunos elementos del probable desempeño futuro de la región, teniendo en cuenta las modificaciones que se han producido en el entorno económico internacional en los últimos meses y los obstáculos estructurales e institucionales que históricamente han limitado el crecimiento sostenible y con inclusión social en Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Por ello, en el texto se resumen algunas lecciones no aprendidas en términos de políticas de crecimiento y desarrollo en nuestros países, las que explican el mantenimiento, y en ocasiones la agudización, de dichos obstáculos estructurales.

The present article analyzes the most recent economic and social evolution of Latin American and Caribbean countries. Besides, it summarizes some elements regarding the likely future development in the region, taking into account the modifications in the international economic context in the last months, and the structural and institutional obstacles that have historically limited the sustainable development with social inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean. Consequently, the text summarizes some of the non learned lessons in terms of growth and development policies in our countries, which explain the maintenance, and at times aggravation of those structural obstacles.
